Many remote workers are not adhering to the password security rules. Before the pandemic also, it was a problem, and after that, the “Keeper Security’s Workplace Password Malpractice Report” revealed that while surveying 1000 employees in the United States in February, it was found that many of them do not follow password security rulers. Use a strong password always
A strong password comprises at least eight characters, and it is a random string. It should be a combination of special characters, letters and numerical. Passwords should never be a dictionary word that’s easy to guess or any details that criminals can guess when they try to crack your accounts.
Have a unique password for all accounts
Always remember that a few things are there you should never recycle, and one is passwords. When employees are using the same password across several accounts, there is a high risk of a security breach. Around 44% have admitted to using the same password over again.
Store all information securely and should be encrypted
Securing your account by using a strong password should not be the only objective. You should also keep the password safely. Around 57% of them are writing passwords on sticky notes, 62% on a journal or notebook, etc. It is why attackers can get access to your system.
Do not share work-related passwords
It is always advised not to share your password with anyone out of the organization. It includes your children and spouse, and the report claims that 14% of them have shared with their spouse while working remotely. Around 11% have been shared with other family members, which you should never do.
Sharing password within office space is fine till it is encrypted
If there is a need to share passwords in the workplace, it must be done securely and only with authorized parties. More than 62% of them have shared unencrypted passwords. It was done using text messages or emails, which hackers can easily access.
